Combiwave SF50 (Salmeterol/Fluticasone) is an inhaler preventing and managing asthma and COPD symptoms. It provides long-acting bronchodilation and anti-inflammatory action, improving breathing, reducing flare-ups, and enhancing lung function.
Product code: 19016712
Combiwave SF (25/50 mcg) is a pressurized metered-dose inhaler (pMDI) indicated for the regular maintenance treatment and management of chronic inflammatory airway diseases, including bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Formulated as a fixed-dose combination therapy, Combiwave SF delivers two synergistic active agents directly to the lower respiratory tract: Salmeterol xinafoate, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA), and Fluticasone propionate, a potent synthetic inhaled corticosteroid (ICS). This medication is designed for prophylactic administration to maintain airway patency, reduce mucosal inflammation, and prevent acute exacerbations. It is not indicated for the immediate relief of acute bronchospasm or status asthmaticus. Active Ingredients & Pharmacological Mechanism Each metered actuation of Combiwave SF delivers a precise dose of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: Salmeterol (as Xinafoate) – 25 mcg: A selective, long-acting beta2-adrenoreceptor agonist. Salmeterol binds to beta2-receptors on airway smooth muscle, stimulating intracellular adenylate cyclase and increasing cyclic AMP (cAMP) production. This leads to sustained relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle, producing bronchodilations that persist for up to 12 hours. Fluticasone Propionate – 50 mcg: A potent glucocorticoid with pronounced anti-inflammatory action within the lungs. Fluticasone inhibits multiple cell types (mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, lymphocytes) and inflammatory mediator release (cytokines, histamine, leukotrienes), thereby suppressing mucosal edema, airway hyperresponsiveness, and hypersecretion of mucus. Complementary Mode of Action The combination of Salmeterol and Fluticasone offers a dual-action therapeutic approach:…
